G'day troops

On Sunday I went for a ride in a (slightly modified) Centurion, as shown in the photo below.

What intrigued me was the amount of dirt, grass and mud picked up by the wheels, tracks, and running gear (see photos below). The ground was damp as it had rained about 36 hours earlier, but still quite hard.

I thought these pics may be useful for anybody trying to model tanks in a similar situation.

Have fun.

Regards

G'day Mark

When I download the photos from my phone I'll show you the photos of the one they managed to bog a week or so ago. If you think this one is dirty, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!

Hang on - you got a Centurion open-top roadster? That's SO cool!

Having worked around heavy plant a lot, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly they "crud up" on the move...

Nice shots. Notice how the tracks make dirt patterns on the road wheels and how the guide teeth are only half worn. Another interesting thing, the teeth on the sprocket are quite uniformly worn, sometimes it's just the upper and inner parts of the teeth that get worn so always check your refs as closely as possible and think about how the whole thing works.

G'day Kimmo

Yeah, I see what you mean about the dirt patterns on the roadwheels. I hadn't noticed that. Now let's see somebody replicate it in 1/35!

Rob
