Hi Armorama!
I'm just getting back into the hobby after a small hiatus due to "grown up stuff" (work, renovating my apartment etc).
Today I decided to try all my painting equipment to se that everything worked.
I had a model I started some time ago. I tried spraying some Vallejo base coat on it and I then remembered quickly why I almost threw my compressor out the window two years ago. That Vallejo base coat is a freaking beast to work with. It clogs up my air brush after like half a minute!
Whats a better choice when it comes to base coats?

If you don't mind working with lacquers, Mr. Surfacer 1200 and Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500, in either black or gray, can't be beat. You can use hardware store lacquer thinner to thin them, but Mr. Levelling Thinner is worth it's wait in gold and I highly recommend it. Use the cheap lacquer thinner for cleaning.
