This has been dabbled before in text messages, the chat room, and in various threads in this Phorum - a group build just us Filipinos. It's not a contest, but rather it's like the campaigns here in this site. Hell, it is a campaign, only localized to us (and yes, that includes you IPMS-BAC members - all of you - as well, by extension).

Anyway, how about a summer group build/campaign? The subject is one word:

JEEPNEY!

Yep! This is how it'll be...

We each build a jeepney model, post the in-progress pix, and post the final pix. Those who make it get a ribbon attached to their profile (I'll talk to Jeepney and Staff_Jim about that one, though). Said ribbon will be a link to a thread here or maybe even a features page on this site showing our creative "geniuses" (nacks! Geniuses! Hehehehehe ), a way to showcase the talent of the Filipino modeller.

BUT (!) you are not limited to the run-of-the-mill jeepneys that we have. This Jeepney Campaign/Group build can include the craziest jeepney incarnations you can think of (think: a "Hummney" as in a HMMVW turned into a jeepney, or a Porsche turned into a Porcshe-ney). Plus points to the one who can pull of an Abrams-ney.

We could start this group build on, say, February, and run it all the way up to June 1st. All of you can start getting "research material" (hehehe) and start thinking of your designs today.

Then, we can all meet one day to see our crazy incarnations "in the flesh" ika-nga. :-)

So, anyone interested? I'm planning to do a "regular jeepney" meself, using the Academy M151 jeeps as the base kit (damn cheap! P70 a pop! hehehe), getting one of those Scopa decal paper for the colorful 'artwork' you see in some jeepneys, and doing a lot of scratchbuilding. :-)

O ano? Tara na! :-)

I'll think about it. Have 3 campaigns on hand. How about getting the start date around March-April? Di kasi madali rin ang maghanap ng suitable materials/parts to make one. Let's give time to others to get themselves really prepared.

SR: I have no qualms with the start date. It's the end date that I'm concerned. Would June 1 be ok? Or extend it to June 15 or so? As for starting dates, I think second week of February will do - unless others have a better suggestion. BTW, I too am tied with lots of campaigns. I've got a UK/Commonwealth campaign, an Abrams campaign, I'm thinking of dabbling into the Death from Above campaign with an AH-64 Apache or Cobra in 1/72, then there's the Twilight 2000 campaign... that's three campaigns, plus a possible fourth... hehehe

Cardinal: Of course, you and Blitz and all Filipinos of this great site and of IPMS-BAC can join. :-) With regard to the members of IPMS-BAC, even if some aren't active members of this Phorum, they too can join. :-) You can say that this will be an all-Filipino campaign.

Wouldn't it a little bit bias? Why not let some other Armorama modelers work on this too. Just like the Dutch's Remember Market Garden, it's within the Dutch only group but they extended it to other modelers. Trying to find a way to promote Philippines across the globe.

You're getting the hang of AC modeling. I like that!

Sounds cool. Can we build an F-14ney?

Sign me up. I'll tell the other members of IPMS-P-BAC about it. One thing though: dates in calendar are closer than they appear. If we start March shouldnt we extend the finish up by about a month too?

Yep, that would be an a must. GI, I have to ask, why the end date is temporary set on June 1 or 15? Just a question.

Re: end dates, it is still subject to finalization. :-) I was thinking, if start is second week of February, surely June 15 might be a far enough deadline. Assuming, of course, everything goes according to plan. :-) Suggestions are welcome.

Re: as to limiting this only to Filipinos, it's because the great majority out there do not know what a jeepney is, or something to that effect. Unlike RMG, that one is well known.

Cris: Yeah, I also had owner-type jeeps in mind with this campaign. :-)

Don't forget the disco lights as well and the mini-altar at the dash board. :-)

On the subject of end dates, I'm thinking of extending this up to August. So we start this February 1 and end the campaign on August 31... what does anyone think?

If you say August I'll give it a try.
Have to scout first in some garage sale for any built up kits..
