... before I did.

I'm going to watch it this sunday (FINALLY!).

Yes, we have a 'TV and Movies' forum, but I'd like to discuss this with us locals only - if you permit me.

BTW, for those interested on the military analysis of RotK, check this link:

WARNING! SERIOUS NUMBERS CRUNCHING ON POSTED LINK! :-)

'Twas AMAZING...couldn't wait for my brother in law to come here, so whole family watch it after Christmas. i'm thinkin' of watching it again.. Best Trilogy ever !!! I got the previous LOTRs DVDs and definitely they'll be coming up with the whole volume. The Fellowship has 45 mins of added scenes as well as 40 mins for the TWO TOWERS.

I just saw it last night, 11pm screening. We finished by 2am. Jomz, is it true that the advanced screenings of last month were longer(deleted scenes included in that screening) 'coz the movie ended almost exactly 3hours. Just curious.
The battle scenes were fantastic! Tolkien really incorporated real war ideas like the dragon "air force", oliphaunt "armor", etc. Couldn't help but be reminded of Star Wars' Battle of Hoth scenes where Imperial walkers were first shown. Also images of Braveheart. I did not read the book so I was clueless as to the whole storyline. I actually prefer it that way so I don't expect too much nor become disappointed when they deviate or do not stay true to the book. I would love to see the full version someday, just like "Fellowship" and "Two Towers". Truly a great trilogy. Saw the preview of "Troy" too and that looks promising as well!

Bull: "Purists" (and I don't use the term in the negative sense) liked the film but didn't love the film, particularly the Purists with a military background. Go check the link I posted at the topic post.

Apparently, Peter Jackson's take on LotR combat had more D&D flavor than Tolkien who had WW1 (or was it WW2) in mind while writing the tome. Hence, the battle scenes you see (and would read in the books) are very realistic militarily.

Nonetheless, I can't wait for 1000hrs tomorrow to see the film. :-) I know I won't be disappointed. Not at all. Hehehehehe!

On Troy, I do hope they picked a damn goddess of a woman to play Helen of Troy (anyone knows?)... I'd love to see Keira Knightley (mmmmmmmmmmmm........ Keira........... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............) as Helen of Troy.

Sir Bull.

Yup! The preview included additional 20+ minutes of battle-scenes, although there wasn't any indication where the additional 20 minutes started and stopped.

The National Geographic feature had analogies from Pearl Harbor, Braveheart, etc.

I cried, I laughed, I cheered before and after watching all 3 hrs and 20 mins of it.

Watched it last night and it absolutely rocked! I guess Tolkien knew his medieval military that well.

I'm now looking for a 1:35 kit of the oliphaunt, and 1:48 kits of the wringwraith's dragon (or valkyrie?) and Gandalf's eagles. bwahahaha #:-)

GI: Helen will be played by an unknown(at least to me), Diane Kruger. She didn't have a photo on the site I went to but I guess she's pretty enough to be casted. Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean will also be there so it's like a LOTR reunion of sorts. Keira on the other hand will be in the 'Pirates" sequel scheduled for next year. She also plays Guinevere in another "King Arthur" movie.

Lattex: Those would make great models! I really hope models come out soon. I particularly like the boats, the battering ram and yes the oliphaunts!

Oh my, Warhammer has always been a hobby I've taken interest to, but still haven't had any funds to sustain or even get into. I've seen the LOTR:FOTR line of figures, and speaking by my standards, they're pretty ok, if you ask me. With the correct paint-job, they can be convincingly jaw-dropping, their prices too (IIRC, they come in sets) is also equally jaw dropping. Plus some of them are made of pewter(?). Neutral grounds carries the local line of Gamesworkshop figures/sets right? They have some modelling brushes, and paint sets, plus some foliage and scenery equipment, to boot. Pero mas namamahalan ako sa stock nila. Hehe! (:-)

Here's something for the LOTR and Tolkien buffs among us: Encyclopedia of Arda

I saw some LOTR toy-sets in Virra Mall, by the Third floor, sa row nang collectible-toy-shops there, they had a battering ram toy-set last time I was there -- I remember it, because they had this diorama of the battle of Helms Deep going on there.

Uhh, I'm guessing, but is Shelob the spider? Anyway, truly a great film! I loved that scene when the "prisoners were released!" I checked and Peter Jackson will be producing and directing a 2005 version of King Kong! The possibilities are endless! Imagine, King Kong looking like an orc, climbing Sauron's tower, with Arwen in hand......I hope this doesn't become his undoing the way Hulk was Ang Lee's disaster! :-)

I already saw the movie before Christmas...c/o the pirated DVD. I was even lucky because when I was in UK I accidentally chanced upon the premier in one their theaters there...Nothing still beats the big screen so I still envy for those who watched in the movie house....Nice Movie.

Watched it 2 days ago. A bit late I know but the lateness was neutralized by the sheer greatness of the movie.
