I have been painting a Hasegawa Ki-44. The interior was painted with testers enamel paint. The outside was done with Tamiya acrylics. Now I need to paint the wheel wells which had been over painted with acrylics. Can I spray the wheel wells with Testers enamel over the acrylic without an adverse effect? I found out Testers does not make that color (interior green FS 34151) in acrylics.

Model Master does make Interior Green FS 34151 in acrylics.

There's a paint conversion chart on the Internet , it's crossing just about every paint . I think it's the ultimate paint conversion or something like that . One benefit of putting enamel over acrylic is you can clean up the enamel with paint thinner and not take off the acrylic .

You are right,I only checked Squadron and they did not stock it. I can order it, but I do not know if any one local has it.

So, there will not be any ill effects if I spray the Model master over the acrylics? I can get the color in Testers acrylic but I have the enamel on hand.

In short, you can pretty much spray any paint over any other paint. Just make sure it has cured. You could always mix your own color. I was an avid buyer of pre-mixed colors, for a few years. Result: I have nearly the entire MM line. I now mix my own, using Tamiya acryls or MM acrylic.

I haven’t painted the wheel wells yet. Tonight I will start to mask off the leading edges of the wing and paint the yellow ID stripes, and then I will do the wheel wells. I am going to try the enamel. Here is the link to my build blog. http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/226457&page=1

Change of plans, I painted the wheel wells last night with enamel, and it came out fine. I am almost done painting this thing!

Painting tires and rims is a good example of what you asked about .paint the tire in acrylic and the rim with enamel , if you are good with an airbrush you can just clean off the over spray with a brush moistened with enamel thinner .
