My latest project was this replica WWII era German military bicycle so I named it "Jerry Rig"

I bought the 26" Huffy 3-speed in a thrift store for $7 USD ($6.99).
The other parts are:
tackle box ($1.99 USD same thrift store)
hand pump (found in refuse bin)
rear rack (already had this on another bike)

OD Green paint is Rust-Oleum, Specialty Camouflage, Deep Forest Green (1919830) - 12 oz Spray

A lot more can be added later as I find them affordably appropriate.

Thanks for looking

That's the first 1:1 build I have seen, on this site. Excellent notion! Did any of them mount a Thompson sleeve? Just thought this may add to the character.

You're right. I thought that using OD meant US.

Thanks for checking in fellas. What color were the German bikes of the WWII era? I thought they were dark green.

Good idea to mount a rifle sleeve Maybe a Mauser sleeve

We were invited to ride in the local Christmas parade yesterday and so we did. I decided to roll this one of course (I have about 13 bikes).

I added a tool bag on the rear rack strapped down with a rifle sling.

That was probably the only safe German vehicle on the road, after
D-Day. I like the use of the rifle sling. I believe the Germans used feldgrau. However, it is very close to olive drab you used.

Thanks. Yes, this was the closest color to feldgrau that I can find locally out of an aerosol can.

Is that golden snow crawler yours?

I've purchased this book. The Troop Bicycle of the German Wehrmacht. Great reference material for those interested in the Wehrmacht Truppenfahrrad.

^ Some before shots from the afternoon of Dec 14, 2014

I painted a white patch onto the rear fender which I saw on some of the ref pics of some of these bikes. Masking then spraying a light coat of the base green color first. Then followed with a few light coats of white until solid.

^ The white is gloss so after the decals, I'll brush in a wash of burnt umber around that rivet followed by dull coat, then maybe some pigments…

thanks for looking . . .

Cool project Ko. It looks great. Makes me want to play copycat and do something similar.

I've added a front military bag. Also sprayed matte overall which darkened the green slightly and quenched the oxidation that was developing.

These pictures are from a local coastal California ride we were in this weekend.
