I am getting some ominous hard drive fail messages lately and it would appear our primary drive is giving up the ghost. You guys killed it!

Sadly I know what this is going to mean if that happens. Yes we have backups on a secondary drive, but when the main drive goes (or before hand) the hosting company is going to want to do a new drive replacement and then a restore from the backup (done by me). This is going to take a full day (or more) to do most likely and there will likely be some data loss from the time of the last backup. I will try to minimize the loss but please be patient while we go through this transition. I may even opt to just do a server migration as that will mean we at least get an updated cpu, etc.

Will keep you all informed via our KitMaker Facebook page as needed (once the site is offline).

Thanks,
Jim

Data loss? ... Feel free to delete all of my useless rhetoric ... no great loss there!

But seriously, thanks for all that you guys do!

An interesting phenomenon has happened. Since the KitMaker site has been down, I seem to be spending more time on the modeling bench

I have shut down the mail cron file so the emails should cease on this until I can figure out what's up.

Thanks,
Jim

Okay was a simple issue with the data not being cleared each time it runs. Should be back up and working normally now.

Cheers,
Jim

I will be working on the upload issue on the gallery (the site is up now, just uploading is broken). I didn't have any other option but to upgrade to a newer version of PHP which unfortunately is causing some sporadic issues with certain pages.

Thanks for the well wishes and support!

Cheers,
Jim

I kinda give up. I don't get the flood of mail antmore, but - Now I don't get any mail from this site. I've gone back to most of the threads I follow and re-subscribed 2 or 3 times, and clicked the follow button, but still no mail. Oh well. Might have to move on.

Hi EJ,
Not sure what to tell you. I got an email from the system telling me your reply was here. Perhaps with all the emails that got sent during that time period we got dinged as a spammer with some mail providers? I have another member emailing me that he is no longer getting the daily update emails, but I am seeing those come into my Google-based email as well.

I know the emails are going out in general. There are some topic specific issues to do with topic titles that are a problem. What is the topic you are trying to get email alerts regarding?

Best wishes,
Jim

Here's a few - of the threads I had subscribed to, none of which I get e-mails from
Ships by class
CV-8 Uss hornet
Revell 1/144 Landing ship Med Build
Gallery models 1/350 USS Intrepid
Figures
Figures practice Practice Practice
Campaigns
Campaign Ideas Improve your figures

I have ATT.net - Yahoo mail as my mail provider. Maybe they blocked all the stuff from Kitmaker?

Yeah those topic names shouldn't be an issue with sending so I would look at your spam folder or use a secondary email if you have one.

I can look at this more tomorrow to see if there are any records the emails are getting rejected when they are sent via our 3rd party mail service.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Eugene,

I am aware of two topics you mention which have been inactive for some time now, therefore no e-mail updates.

'Campaign Ideas Improve your figures' (Last Post: Saturday, November 01, 2014 - 03:19 PM UTC)
'Figures: practice, practice, practice ...' (Last Post: Thursday, October 09, 2014 - 11:52 PM UTC)

I'll give the topic which I created (Figures: practice, practice, practice ...) a test bump to determine if the e-mail subscription is still active.

And then ... uh ... I really need to get back to work on these figures!

6 hours and no e-mail subscription notification on the test bump. I guess that confirms it — something is up.

Hi Mike,
You shouldn't get an alert email on your own reply. I put a test post in so let's see if that works for you.

Jim

Well, I still get no e-mails. I also used an alternate e-mail address, subscribed to the threads, no success there either.
I have to use my bookmarks, select Kitmaker, Armorama or ModelShipwrights link, then drill down to the thread I want to follow whats going on. Kind of a pain. I do get the daily notifications for RSS Feeds - whatever that is, as I don't use that.
Thanks anyway for looking into this. Guess whatever is wrong will be that way for me. Was good to be here while it lasted.

I looked at our 3rd party email records and they had set your email to soft bounce which according to them means there was a reported spamming of email so they were blocking further emails from coming through. I was able to remove the block so you *should* start to see them coming through now unless there is an additional level of blocking by your mail provider or mail client.

Jim
