The AMPS Atlanta Club in conjunction with the Atlanta Military Figure Society will hold their 2015 show February 13 – 15, 2014 at the Marriott Century Center.

This year’s theme is “Retreads.” Eligible entries should represent vehicles which saw combat with one nation during WWII and were later used by a different nation in conflict after the war.

AMPS sponsored Seminars will be “How to Model Water for your Dioramas” and “Painting Figures for Armored Subjects.”

The show flyer can be viewed and downloaded here:

Thank you for sharing that. I hope the weather holds out for this one. Was really depressed when last years got cancelled due to all that ice. I was living right down the road in Griffin and was looking forward to that one.

Just a reminder that AMPS Atlanta's annual show is coming up 13 - 15 February 2015.

Information can be found here:

http://www.ampsatlanta.org/amps-atlanta-annual-show.html

Also, all of you that had models for last years show that was cancelled, bring them, as we will have awards for those also. Just as a reminder, last years theme was "People Movers."

Hope to see everyone there.

Bump. Only 5 and a half more weekends to get those builds ready!

We have a great seminar from Mike Roof on figure painting for Armor Modelers. If you haven't seen Mike's work, check it out here on Armorama.

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/features/4490

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/220266#1852602

We also have long time AMPS member Tony Zadro doing with a seminar on water effects for scenic basics. Tony does some amazing, and he'll be showing off his work as well as doing some real time resin pouring on how he works with water effects.

Don't forget, there will be two theme awards this year. The one from last years weather cancelled show - People Movers, and this years - Retreads.

Hope to see many of you there.

Hoping to make it to this show. This will be my first ever AMPS show, but I just have a quick question. Are the only models allowed for the competition ones that fit the theme? In this case Retread and last years?

Personal anecdote:

I built models growing up into the early years of high school before school, girls, cars, and jobs ended getting in the way. Fast forward to 2010 and I ended up doing some internet searches on what what happening in the world of modeling these days. I ended up seeing a post for this same show, the Atlanta AMPS show in 2010, and thought it would be cool to see stuff in person. I didn't know anyone, but went, walked around, and saw all sorts of cool stuff. I was hooked. Ended up talking to one of the local AMPS members and started going to the local meetings the next month. Been a member ever since, and it's really been great way to meet other modelers, but also to learn new techniques, see some unique builds come together, etc. Modeling as we all know is very easy to be an activity that is very solitary. And while that's fine, having friends with the same hobby and seeing what they're building can be a great motivation.

Hope any lurkers out there come out to the show, take a look, and have some fun. Maybe even say hi.

We just confirmed today, that a representative from the Armor and Cavalry Museum Restoration Facility will give a presentation on the work there and an overall update on vehicles they have and expect/hope to get. The presentation will be at 10 AM on Saturday, 14 February. This should be informative as well as a chance for you to get information on specific vehicles you may be interested in.

Thanks Dave. I'm mainly interested in when the final "left overs" raffle is going to be held, Saturday late afternoon, or Sunday.

My guess is Saturday, since there is really nothing happening Sunday but the awards.

Thanks for the invite. I'll see what I can do, because I don't mind going to more shows.

Dave-How is the vendor turnout on Saturdays usually? Sadly I won't be able to enter any builds, but plan on doing some shopping along with looking at builds and meeting people.

Seth,

Saturday is the main day of the show. Vendors are there Friday night, but they are mainly setting up. We usually have a good turnout of vendors. Since it is a joint show with the Atlanta Figure modelers club, there are lots of vendors for both. I should know the vendors attending just for us by this time next week, and will post the list here.

More to follow.
