I am about to start building a Focke Wulf Fw190A-5/U8.
To 'get in the mood' I looked at Richard Franks new book, but it shows on page 29 that this aircraft used 'Junkers' racks for the drop tanks, yet on page 135 it shows 'Messerschmitt' racks.
Can anyone advise, which is correct?
Thanks,

I looked at the Aero Detail #6 book and its subtype section shows the A-5/U8 with Junkers-style wing tank racks fitted.

The section on the G-variants says Fw 190G-2 was a renamed A-5/U8 with Messerschmitt type racks as standard equipment.

However, some pages back in the section on drop tanks, there are photos of both the Junkers and Messerschmitt type racks, with captions saying the Junkers type rack was fitted to A-4/U8 (G-1) and A-5/U8 (G-2) and Messerschmitt type racks fitted to A-5/U2, A-8/Jabo and G-2.

So I'm not quite sure if there's a clear-cut answer. I hope someone more knowledgeable on the subject could chime in.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Luftwaffe - again - a bit confusing , but that's what makes it interesting!!

I'll use the SAM conversion kit to make a Fw190A-4/U8 and by taking the drop tamks and racks off an old Promodeller Bf110G-4 make a Fw190A-5/U8!!

A good compromise

Regards and thanks agian,

Dennis
