...CAR KIT! :-)

This is a build for my sister who loves Porsches. The plate numbers are kit parts given Bare Metal foil and custom made decals (front says "Doctor On Call", rear plate has my sister's nickname). The decals were printed using a laser printer at the office and some left over decal paper which I got from JMN many moons ago.

The clear parts (except windshield and clear part between headress) were "glued" by using some thick Gunze clear coat. The windshield was masked using Bare Metal foil (yes, expensive, but it works) and scotch tape (thanks to Goo Gone, the gooey stuff was removed without much effort) and glued into place with Mighty Bond. The rear clear part was glued using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.

Why pink? Well, my sister likes pink, and so I painted the kit as such. I didn't really paint it according to the instructions (that'd take time - this isn't after all an exhibition piece). The head and tail lights were painted inside using Tamiya enamels (except for the clear red - Tamiya Acrylic). The pink is Mr. Color by Gunze. Interior color was a sort of tan, another Mr. Color paint (special thanks to Jeepney for helping me choose the interior color - it went well comrade. :-) ). The black you see around the body is Tamiya enamel semi-gloss black. Some of the silver parts is Tamiya enamel Chrome Silver. The wheels and side mirrors were not painted. The chassis is painted with Mr. Color flat black mixed with some Mr. Color clear gloss.

The airbrush I used is a Gunze Pro-Spray Mk. 1 which is a beginner's airbrush (SA, EF). The whole project was sealed with Tamiya Clear (TS-13 IIRC).

I had a lot of fun building this and it made me want to build another car - perhaps yet another Porsche (the red car I see at JMN) or the Mercedes Benz also at JMN.

Thanks to Jomz and Fiawrc for advice and tips to make this kit a success. :-)

Sweet. Are you sure this isn't a real car? Hehehe.

Overall, it's a wonderful piece. Now, are you ready for some ACs?

I like. Hehe!

Kudos with the great job on the rear-logo, BMF-treatment, too? On the front right head-light, I think there's a bit of glue-residue(?) or you just missed painting off a small section of the clear-orange-part. Some more interior shots! I want to take a look of how the tan looked like on a pink car. I was thinking more of a white-interior.

Hehehe glad you two liked it. :-)

Jomz: Yes, the front-left headlight (in this pic, it's on the right side) has some missing orange paint. That's because of the clear gloss and probably also because some transparent orange was rubbed off accidentally. And yes, the rear plate is also the kit part given BMF, then the custom decal over it, then Tamiya clear gloss.

SR: Hehehe! Perhaps in this 2004, during summer. Will be starting with the F-14 followed by the F/A-18E.

Sweet!!! Love the nice shiny look! Add a little wash on the panel lines to give it a depth. What manufacturer was this?

Haha! Actually, I was a bit reluctant posting these stuff on this side of the planet (the other side being automotiveforums) baka kasi mawarning-an ako o ano.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Sir Buck,

Hasegawa used to make a 4-door Honda Civic EG, but last I heard it was OOP. Most of the Honda Civic's I see here in the model shops in Manila are the EK9's and the older 80's Civic Hatch.

The closest resemblance to a cross between the EK9 and a 4-Door Civic would be the Honda Civic Sir II kit release of Fujimi, albeit 2-door lang talaga siya.

HTH.

Hi GI,

It was sweet of you to build it for your sister! Nice car build!! I have not tried building cars because the paint work can really get involved. The shine is as good as real cars!! Meanwhile, my poor car needs (Renault 21 GTS) a new paint job!!

Jomz,

Nice detail work!! Can't wait to see it when it's finished. Do you plan to show engine detail?

Wanze: Thanks. Yeah, sweet build for my sis hehehehe :-) KUng naging doktor siya, dapat libre ang medical care ko! Hehehehe!

Jomz: Looks like yours is going to be really good when it's done. Paint coat looks very even - no build ups from where my POV.

Hehehe, looks like our weeee little Phorum has become a "car modeler's refuge" in Armorama hehehe :-)

GIB: Well done, my friend. Glad I was able to help. Advice & suggestions only go so far, its the builder's skill that determines how the model comes out. You've done one "bleep" of a job. Are you sure you haven't done any cars models before?

Jomz: Nice work on the EK9 kit. You have to show me how to drill the vent holes on the disc brakes one of these days.
