I have encountered a few mentions of this product. Does anybody have experience using it on etch? From what I can tell, it would be much easier than using a soldering iron.

I have got & used "Classical Mechanic Solder Paste" by ahem: HongKong Wellsolo Metal Technology, as here: XG-50

Key search term: XG-50, or updated product XG-52?

This is a solder paste You can pay to to UKP £8.00 to £16.00 for this... I paid £2.69 & 2 weeks wait from Hong Kong!

A "how to" here on Mil-Mod

Paul Budzik Tutorial

good luck

Jon: Thank you. That is what I was looking for. I'm tired of tedious amounts of extra-thin ca glue, but doubted my abilities when it comes to conventional soldering.

I believe that's a mixture of flux and little balls of solder , you would use a small torch instead of a soldering iron . May I suggest a ceramic tile to do the soldering on and use the backside of the tile .

[quote]I believe that'I already have a tile to work on and most of the necessary supplies from doing electronic soldering. Thank you for the tip. I found some liquid solder on Amazon for $5 that should work.

It does the same thing . The pen might just be a bit easier to handle . I just wondered , I went to a bunch of artist supply places and could not find any of the fiber pens , finally wound up buying it at eBay and it came from England .

I'm pretty sure you can get one on Amazon. But, they are on my blacklist. I ordered Christmas from them, two months in advance. Two weeks before Christmas, I received and e-mail stating that they had declined my card.

Great post. The video was great. Motivated me to find the stuff to do PE soldering. Here are some links (not sure how long they will last) of the 3 items I got (ordered but still waiting for them to arrive) off of ebay.

Pencil torch
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171264905939?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
scratch pen
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181256142811?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
solder paste
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181042448195?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

All are coming out of somewhere in China. Not sure of the quality but I can post my findings when they arrive if they are worth recommending to get.

Cheers

That is the same soldering paste as in the tutorial. And, it happens to be the same stuff I ordered. As far as the pencil torch and scratch pen, I doubt you can go wrong. Of course, you can get a pencil torch almost anywhere.
