Two of the last three packages I have received from Lucky Model have had German post marks. Has Lucky Model set up shop in Europe as well?

Kevin I was thinking the same thing as a recent parcel from Lucky Model also came from Germany, so what gives?

Nothing to do with Germany, but it's funny that my last two padded envelopes arrived with a shipping label over the original Label with NJ return addresses.

Same here.. Actually, this makes me always go to Hobbyeasy first.. the stupid customs people here still have this old idea about HK being all poor Chinese people selling cheap plastic stuff, so Hobbyeasy packages with the source listed as HK get slapped with a small customs fee.. whereas Luckymodel packages with the source listed as Germany get slapped with a much higher customs fee.. since it's from Europe... I know it's crazy, but that's how things get done here
But I've always wondered why a package from HK would go through Germany to come to Egypt.. Do they use German airlines for some reason?

LM have distribution points worldwide, including Germany.
This 'should' mean that since the package originates within the EU, it would have paid taxes on the original import into the EU, and any sales taxes in Germany & therefore 'shouldn't' attract any more customs charges.
It's often still cheaper to buy a kit with p&p from LM than from a UK hobby shop, go figure.
Hisham, your customs & P&P milages & charges may vary though.

if only my last package from LM had gone through Germany, ordered Bronco's Universal Carrier mk II,£28 all in,came home to find a silver card on the mat informing me that I had a parcel to pick up with a customs charge, brought it up to £40-d'oh!!
Still,it's the first time in 10 years of using LM that I've had to pay customs so I've either been incredibly lucky or Karma has bitten back hard for whatever reason

It's because Lucky now uses DHL (Deutsche Post is the parent company) instead of Hong Knog Post. Your stuff is still coming from Hong Kong just a different shipper (and no it's not going to Germany first).
