Hi All,
I have to move soon and decided that it was a good opportunity to organize the Stash as I pack. I also thought that I would photograph it so I have a record of how crazy I am.
This first photo shows most of my unstarted Armor kits.
Cheers Rob.

Wow! ... impressive, Sir. I feel much better now. I have three unfinished dioramas, five started vehicles for said dioramas, six vehicles not started yet and approximately fifteen figure sets; a few of which have been kit-bashed for said dioramas. ... And I have ideas in the thousands which keep me awake at night!
I must confess: I just started up again in November, 2013. However, with so many cool kits out now, I can see what happens as you have illustrated above. Thus, I am very concerned about my future storage needs.
This may sound weird but once I got going again, I created an Excel spreadsheet which includes kit start and completion dates, itemized hours for assembly, detail & painting which tie-in directly to completion hours for dioramas. In actuality, the spreadsheet has helped keep me in check -- for now, anyway!

One day I got annoyed by my stash, so I started building all kits in it but stopped buying new ones. Some kits I sold. I now have 4 that I am currently working on and only 1 not started kit. It feels great

Part of the reason for this thread is so I can see that I have too much already and stop buying more. Also so I can start whittling down that list of unfinished kits.
Brent,
Nice stash, I see we have many of the same items. I am also on Scalemates here is my full stash.

Mike,
A great deal of the kits and unfinished ones are from my early days in modelling and even when I was not building for many years I was still buying.
Mat,
That is the plan.
Cheers Rob.

Personally, I've found that I'll frequently buy a kit of a subject that I'm interested in and then lose interest in that kit/subject a couple months later. So I just eBay it.
In the process of whittling down my massive (to me) stash of 30 kits to only a couple that I have sentimental attachment to.
I urge you to do the same.

I have stacks of kits in my sons closet, my closet, my wife's closet, and in the garage. At the rate I'm building them I'll turn 100 before I finish and that's if I don't buy another one ever again. I've also sold or traded a good 50-60 kits over the last 2-3 years because I just didn't have anywhere to store them. Hopefully I'll sell a few more in the next couple years, it's kind of embarrassing to have so many.

Mike,
I am starting to realize that.
I have gotten really good at storing thing efficiently.
Almost all of this was in one small closet.
Cheers Rob.

Even if I had a place to hide a stash like that, my wife would kill me if she found that many kits laying about!

Mike I did the same thing to keep track of my stash start and end dates but not man hours. But I do keep track of what campaign I used each kit for

Sal,
It's a good thing I don't track my hours for time spent on Armorama forums -- more than I actually build!
Oh well ... back to the stash ... slllooowly whittling it down!

Samuel,
We'll see.
I mean, 4 F-15s, 4 Hornets, and I don't know how many Phantoms...how many do you really need?
(Is there a hypocrite emoticon for me, the owner of three Sea Furies and six Mustangs?)

Samuel,
Actually it's 9 F-15's and 7 F-18's.
Cheers Rob.

And how many are in a Fighter Wing? You could built quite a diorama!
On another note...you'll enjoy building that AM Dauntless. I built that one and it is my favorite kit ever. Beautiful plane, great fit, well built...I'd build another if I could.

Thanks Samuel,
I am looking forward to it.
I remember in my early teens picking up a really nice Dauntless kit it had all the holes in the dive brakes and nice detail, I believe it was a Japanese make but not sure who.
Cheers Rob.

Could have been Hasegawa. IIRC that one's been out for awhile and was the best one until AM released theirs.

Hello,
My name is Pedro and I'm a plastic model kit hoarder. I've lost the right to call myself a modeler until I build a bunch of my kits on the regular. I need counseling;)
