I read in my Osprey book about Vietnam War armies that there were US Special Forces that used squads of South Vietnamese soldiers led by US commanders, and some of the South Vietnamese disguised themselves as Viet Cong soldiers, including equipment. Unfortunately the book went into no further detail about them.

I was probably done on a need to know basis and nobody needs to know.
