Hi All!

After I started commenting a little, I thought it would be fair to introduce myself and show some of my work.

I started modeling as a boy, stopped for some 20 years and then picked it up again seven or eight years ago. I am mainly doing ships, focus on DKM and RN WW 2 models, and I started with Heller's 1/400 OOB before I finally went on with 1/350 and all the nice PE stuff.

My first 1/350 was Trumpeter's Admiral Graf Spee with Eduard and WEM:

The build log for this one - as all my build logs - is on a small but nice German site, here's the link to the Graf Spee:

http://modell-helling.de/node/92

and the gallery

Second in line was HMS Prince of Wales, Tamiya with mainly WEM:

and gallery:

Right now I am building the second major unit of Force Z, HMS Repulse, Trumpeter with Eduard, WEM and various small stuff. That's were I am at right now:

and the build log:

I am not going to do a full build log here on the Repulse, but I will keep you updated on the major steps...for my next project - no idea what it will be, the stack is big... - I will start a full build log here as well, promised!

Well, the nasty thing called real life gets in the way all too often and I am a very slow modeler anyway, so that disqualifies me for your campaign - but I do like the concept and keep watching with amazement what you all are doing!
The Graf Spee took me quite exactly a year, the PoW about one and a half, and the progress you can see on Repulse results from the last 16 months...so you get the picture.

Now I hope that the links work, and the pictures show up - and I will show progress on my Repulse here, whenever there is something to show. So that may mean some weeks of 'silence' are not unlikely to happen.

Happy about all comments and tips for the ongoing one, and equally happy to answer any questions you might have with the German logs!

Jan

Welcome back. You have some very nice builds posted. I don't generally do ships, but am working on a 350 USS Brown DD354. My grandfather passed away, recently and this was the ship he served on during his tour in WWII. I will be building a second, the USS Yarnell that he served on during his Korean tour. I don't think my skills are anywhere near yours. I look forward to seeing more. You may get more responses if you post this on Model Shipwrights.

Thanks Anthony and Matt!

- actually, I tried to post that in the model shipwrights, started from that very site and am quite amazed where I ended up...

Can anybody help me moving that to the general modeling section of the model shipwrights? I am not quite up to speed with all tools here yet...

Thank you so much!

Sorry for my clumsiness - this was intended for Model Shipwrights. I did not manage to move it, so I copied it over, it's now there under General Ship Modeling.

Admin, please feel free to delete that one here entirely, sorry again, my promised progress on the Repulse etc. will be over at the ship's section.

Best regards,

Jan
