First off, Merry Christmas and/or Happy Chanukah to all! (:-)

But, watch out for any email from "Paypal" asking you to verify your identity.
It's fake! Another scam email to get you to give personal information to some slimeball that is not affiliated with Paypal at all.

The email looks just like it's from Paypal/ebay - using the same logo, font type, etc. but it is a fake.
If you get an email like this, forward it to [email protected] - it's their email fraud contact.

I recently got one that was alledgedly from security@paypal, so be ware of those also, whoever is sending them is pretty slick, but when they ask for pin numbers and social security numbers, well you should definitely smell a rat...

I get those from EBay as well as PayPal.

This scam must work as I seem to get them about every 3-4 weeks.

JERKS!!

It's New Year's Eve & I've been AWOL since before Christmas--so I have a backlog of topics to wade through. This one caught my eye though. I think generally speaking most folks here at Armorama are pretty computer/internet savvy--but the scamsters are getting more sophisticated all the time.
Recently I've gotten several emails that purported to be from Earthlink & saying that there was a problem with my account. I didn't fall for it & advised Earthlink immediately. The same thing has happened with Ebay and, yes PayPal. These weasels even use the right logos and what appears to be a legit address.
As always, a legit company will never ask for sensitive account/personal info via an email. They are all bogus requests. When in doubt, check with your ISP directly first.
God, how I hate theives and cheaters! May they all rot in hell.
