Given the military-oriented nature of this network I though an option for an emoticon of a salute would be a neat addition. Something kind of like this:

I do know that some members have used it as a salute before in the past as your description would make phases like this a bit weird, "I salute you " or " Happy birthday "
Personally I prefer to use this one I found a while ago

Well, then how about a picture of a guy with a dunce cap? Something I would find useful when I simultaneously realize that my post was stupid and the statute of limitations for editing/deleting it has expired? I would have worn that one out already.
