Nice videos Jim. Nice to see a different side of the hobby, and it's completely unique when compared to something like an IPMS show.

Aren't you glad it was "Throwback Thursday" and not "Throwout Thursday, 1995"!!!

What a waste!!! Why spend all that money on something you will never use?? Buy a kit or two, put them together, and FINISH THEM!!!! Then buy a couple more. The only box I have is a toolbox with scratchbuilding supplies that can be used for additional detailing.

sltom44, the reason we buy the kits is we're buying the time to build them. That is, we think that by purchasing a kit, we'll somehow come up with the time needed to finish it. That, and there's a bit of the hoarder in most of us.

I constantly buy because I never know how long the kit will be on the market or how many will be produced. Back in the 70's, 80's and perhaps the 90's, most Japanese makers would benefit as 90% of the kits produced stay right in Japan...leaving approx 15% for the rest of the modelling world. That information alone was all I needed for an excuse to start hoarding. I guess it explains why I maybe built 2 or 3 kits a year, yet have an inventory of over 300...lol.

True, a combination of buying time and collecting. Let's not forget dreaming. I've spent many hours at work thinking of how I wanted to do a kit/what version of the kit I wanted to represent. I have the same boxes from the '80's, full of unfinished kits. The memories...

We're doing an Me 262 campaign at Aeroscale which would be just the spot to put that Monogram kit because it still builds into a decent replica with only a little bit of TLC. If you're looking for an excuse to come over to the light blue side, the modelling gods have given you a sign

The fun kicks off next March, so you have until then to practise wingy thingies.
