Personally, I prefer a compressor with tank. With the tank I find the pressure is constant, there are no variations in the pressure like you can sometimes get with a tankless compressor. The other advantage is once the required pressure is built up in the tank, the compressor shuts is self off, thus it is not running all the time.
I have the one from Aztech(Testors) and love it.

A big tank of nitrogen is about 12 bucks for a refill not sure how much for the tank and then there's the gauges and regulator , I would say go for the compressor with a tank . Don't have to worry about running out of compressed air in the middle of painting session . And no that's not the five or six foot tank .
