Its based off a prototype so it needs ALOT of work to even bring it up to a production model. They apparently wanted to hide the nose armour so it was covered with a sheet metal box which Tamiya copied in this kit. That's just one of I am sure many problems with it. From everything I have heard its a DOG of a kit.
Not sure there is much aftermarket for it.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the info. Guess I'll scrap my idea of building this big kit.

I have seen one of these built up and it was well done and looked great.
However it didn't really look like a Chieftain and was missing a lot of details.
Its a shame really because it would be great to have one in this scale. The 1/25 Centurion is fantastic as a comparison and its as old as me.
Heck it would be nice to just have a new 1/35 scale Chieftain.
Cheers

I've seen its suspension used as the basis for a scratch built Challenger. Ultimately less work work in the long run.
