hey everyone,
I just got AFV club's valentine MK1 kit. When i got up to fitting the rear louvred doors i found out that in the instructions it shows the right hand door being fitted to a hinge. But the instructions never show attaching this hinge.
I then looked through all the sprues but i couldn't find it. Does anyone know where this part is or is it even in the kit?
has anyone else had this issue?
thanks in advance

Not sure which doors you are referring to - is it the ones in section 7?

B5 and B6?

Cheers,

Nigel

No, the rear lourver doors that fit over the radiator, parts b34 and b33, step 9 shows them being fitted to the rear of the engine deck and on the LH side there is a little rectangle, the hinge, and you can see this clearly in step 21 where there is a small strip with two bolts on it attachted to that small hinge on the doors.

This the part i can't find.
Sorry i didn't make it clear enough.

Sorry for the delay, have been away on business.

Had a look at the instructions and I can see exactly what you mean.

In section 8 they cut the hinge from the right hand side but leave it on the left hand side.

In section 9 you can see the over part of the hinge sticking up from the body on the left hand side but it doesn't appear on any previous diagrams nor is tyere any sign of how it gets there.

And then as you say, in section 21 the full hinge is on display.

But I agree the part of the hinge that is attached to the body is a mystery. No idea what part it is, how it gets there or if it is even provided.

However, look at these pictures from the Perth Military Modelling site.

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/valentine/valentine2_03.html

This does show that the hinge part is included somewhere - the trick is to identify which part it is - I'll have a look to see if I can spot it.

UPDATE - well I can see it clearly in the photo on the Perth site but I've checked over the sprues and can't see any part that looks like it - a mystery indeed.

Cheers,

Nigel

hi nigel,
I was looking over the D sprues for the headlight mounts (which is another unnamed piece) and found the hinge! its D9, opposite the replacement for the moulded part of the lourved door hinge. terry from PMMS said that the AFV club valentines have quite a few mistakes like that.
which mark have you got?
thanks for your help

No haven't built it yet. I have a few BEF models lined up, the Valentine Mk I, an A13 Mk II and a Vickers Mk IV.

I'm looking for a good source of British greens, G3, G4 and G5.

I prefer not to do any mixing.

G4 and G5 are not complex.

G3 seems to be the main colour needed and unfortunately the most difficult to replicate.

See here

seems weird that no one makes a g3 even though it was such a common colour? I've ordered Mr. color khaki green as per the instructions so i'll see what that looks like. I'm going to have a go at making my own markings for the North Irish Horse yeomenry cos i don't like the kits schemes.
