World War I
• There are 119 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the World War I.
World War II
• There are 8 Living Recipients who performed actions in the World War II.
• There are 459 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the World War II.
Korean War
• There are 10 Living Recipients who performed actions in the Korean War.
• There are 127 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the Korean War.
Vietnam War
• There are 53 Living Recipients who performed actions in the Vietnam War.
• There are 196 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the Vietnam War.
War in Afghanistan
• There are 6 Living Recipients who performed actions in the War in Afghanistan.
• There are 3 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the War in Afghanistan.
War in Iraq
• There are 4 Deceased Recipients who performed actions in the War in Iraq.
Something to think about:
To Date – 3463 Medals of Honor have been awarded. Only 77 Recipients are living.
Final Thought:
You do not “win” the Medal of Honor – it is not some prize for being brave. It is awarded for “Conspicuous Bravery Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.”
