I'm planning on buying one (136$ from Amazon); all the reviews on KitMaker say that it's a very high quality tool and I'm convinced it's a pretty good piece of kit as well.

I also recently picked up FSM's 'How To Build Better Models'. The airbrushing article wasn't particularly of much help as I already have a pretty good, basic understanding of airbrushes (considering I've never owned one). Though one thing I've never heard mentioned before was 'airbrush lubricant'.

What parts is it supposed to be applied to? Is it only for certain kinds of airbrushed? Is there any particular brand that's better than the others? Is there anything else that I might not know about that's needed to maintain an airbrush?

I think that I got all my questions out.

I apply drop of lubricant to the piston and the needle, every time I break down my ab. It helps smooth the action of the brush. It is not necessary, but will benefit the operation of the brush.

I echo what Matt said- I also apply a little to the trigger mechanism.
