hi all i thought i would post some pics of my build of the Pamela 3.
She is loosely based on plans by Vic Smeed which i got from Marine Plans International.

They were a very unsafe mode of travel with boilers blowing up a regular hazzard.

There was a famous race between the Robert E Lee and the Natchez in 1870 which
Robert E Lee won. she later caught fire in 1882 killing 21 people such were the hazards of boat travel on the Mississipi.

as you can see she will be rc.

as you can see its coming along would not pick hardboard again it takes a gazillion coats of paint and weighs loads.

So this is where we are now still a fair way to go but wont get much more done till warmer weather SWMBO says its to big to bring in the house and its to cold in the outhouse this time of year so i will have to content myself with plastic kits for now.
so what do you guys think.

Hi all finally decided to get the grand old lady out for a bit of work temproarily anyway.
so I got her off the shelf and the first thing I notice is she needs lots of cleaning(I must remember to cover her up when not doing work on her)

so done the saftey rope round the crews deck

next is a lot of cleaning may have to remove all the rigging to do that properly (don't mind as i have some proper rigging line now)then I have to figure something out for the tops of the funnels.

Looking good.

Is that the Paddle Steamer "Vaverley" on the shelf above?

Hi all well I've removed the rigging to aid cleaning.

as you can see I've also removed part of the deck to show the boiler as you couldn't really see it before ( also it helps with cleaning access).
And yes Murdo that is the waverley on the top shelf. she is sold now to a sailor who was on her but she is on here in comlpeted.

Absolutely phenomenal work. She really is a beauty. Now, I'm familiar with sternwheeled paddle boats here on the rivers in the US, where they used un the UK as well?
