My name is Jim and I live 30 miles N of Seattle Wa. with my wife and 3 (teenage) daughters.Found this great site doing a Google search.Have not touched a model in over 15 yrs.

But after looking at this great site, how could someone not get excited about getting back into the hobby?

Just finishing up a couple of models I found in the rafters of my garage.(Semi-Truck)(68 Nova). What I have noticed is that my eyes are not what they used to be and that I'm going to need some sort of magnafication.

I'm looking foward to trying my hand on some tank models, but for now I'm reading as much as I can . Topics on painting techniques(weathering, washing, dry brushing).

I came up with the call sign Babva (Be afraid be very afraid)

Welcome Jim to the very BEST modeling site on the web. Lots of great info here and really friendly, helpful, people. I've only got two teenaged daughters but I feel your pain about your eyesite. When I not wearing my new bifocals I'm using a headset magnifier, light combo. If you have a shop of there called Harbor Freight, they sell a decent one for under $10.

Welcome to the board. There are so many of us here who are older and getting back into the hobby you should feel right at home.

Jim
welcome to Armorama
My optician told me that modeling further ruins your eyes by asking you to focus on something up close for long periods of time, and that "taxes" the muscles somehow.
He thought the Opti-Visors were great for us.
(He didnt sell them either, BTW)

Welcome to Armorama.
Its the place to be.

Welcome Jim...hope you've spent some quality time with the family before now, cause, you in too deep to ever return to a normal life. hehehe

Destiny has brought you too this place. Don't try to fight it. Come towards the light. Hold the kit in your hands and feel the way of the styrene...er...ok.

I have the opti-visor also...it's a great tool.

So, sit back and enjoy the rest of your life as a builder of armor miniatures.
