Here's a tip on a Tool bash that helps me out.
I had one of those clamp on lights that are 'flexible/positionalbe', the two arm deals with an 'elbow'. The switch failed and I recycled it into an 'Air brush crane'.
I removed the switch, cord and 'inards'. I then added two 'loops' of fishing line off the top blub/light part. I took two sections of rail road cork bedding and threaded them on the loops to act as 'bumpers'. I positioned the crane so I could suspend a kit in front of my spray booth. This works great for aircraft and diorama items.
This is great because it frees up both hands to help brush/mask/position your kit.

Well I just replace the switch but it's a great idea.
