I am 62, a disabled Vietnam vet, and am thinking about returning to modeling to keep the "crazy" away to be honest.
I built model cars fifty+ years ago, and might like to try my hand at WW2 German armor.........looking for advice & "testing the waters", so to speak.

I recommend you start with a Tamiya kit or two. They are excellent quality and, if you are like me, provide inspiration.

Had a recommendation from a friend that 1/35 might be too small for my situation........where do i go from there?? Does Tamiya make larger scales of WW2 German heavy tanks?

retiredyank's Tamiya recommendation is good then.

Tamiya German WW2 tanks in 1/35 build up to be about the same size as a 1/24 - 1/25 scale car.

True, there are a few more parts than the model cars that you remember but these parts are without a lot of flash and seam lines to clean-up. And the parts all fit well.

Tamiya's military armor in 1/25 can get too pricey for the product. The 1/35 kits from the 1970's and 80's are affordable and available.
