I'm curious if what the options are to see German armor up close in the US. I'm in Texas, but travel pretty regularly.

In particular, I'm interested in finding the ol' standbys: Sd. Kfz. 251, Tigers, Sd. Kfz. 7, Steyrs, etc.

Thanks!

I don't know how much is actually on display right now, but Ft Sill, OK may be the largest collection near you. They just received parts of the collections from the Patton Museum and APG. Get a hold of John Bernstein (his call sign on here is Cobrahistorian). He works there and would be able to give you details.

Soft skin stuff is getting harder to come by. A lot of what had been displayed in various places is now gone due to being neglected while stored out in the weather.

I would recommend Ft. Sill. I don't live too far from Ft. Benning. So, I may be able to get a road trip in and take some photos for you.

Camp Mabry outside of Austin has a piece or two, including the 251 you want to see, a Kubelwagen, and a Hetzer. I have been there a few times. Good US stuff as well.

Depending on where you are in Texas the 1st Armored Division at Ft Bliss has a 251, a Hetzer an 88 mm gun and a V2.
