Hello, I was just staring off blankly into space and suddenly, it popped into my head that I'd love to make a bunch of 1/72 scale figures/vehicles etc and play them in some sort of close combat style table top game.
-I loooove playing close combat three with the real red mod (too old to find anymore but on this crappy old comp just about) because of all the units that are included which are not even thought of in most wargames,
The thing is, I have NO CLUE about what kind of games there are out there, I assume my idea is alot like warhammer games, And I sort of imagine that the close combat series must of gotten a basic idea from some kind of game already in existance..
So does anyone know of a game that's flexible enough to be played with 1/72 scale figures, or is there a game out that's pretty free form and has lots of really well made peices to it?
And I HATE hex based games so I'm not really looking for anything in that style.

There're plenty of sites catering to wargames out there. Here's some that I know of that may have some rules that would suit you. My interest is not wargaming but the 1/48 [36mm] scale figures that they make. Usual wargames figures range from 15 to 28mm.
