I just got a new model of an F/A 18 Hornet and I am trying to find a case to put it in but I am not sure what the scale is. The measurements of the model are about 20 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 9 inches high. can some one please tell me what the scale is or how to figure it out. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The model didn't come in a box? Packaging usually includes scale, and often dimensional info as well.

Based on your estimated length, my guess is that it's probably around 1:32 scale.

20 inches is 50.8cm. According to Wikipedia, the length of the F-18 is 17.1 meters. Convert to centimeters and divide by 32: 1710/32=53.44.

Hello,

Length of real aircraft = 17 meters or 55.7712 ft.

55.7712ft. x 12in. = 669.2544in.

669.2544in. divided by 20in. model = 33.46272

so that model is 1:32 scale.

also just buy a case that fits the model.

Cheers,
Joe

In industrial parks and lonely strip malls there are glass wholesales/cutters. Cabinet shops and contractors get the glass they need from them.

If you go into one of these they'll either be happy to make you a five sided glass box, or tell you who will. From there you just need an appropriately shaped piece of wood and a router for the dado in which the glass will fit, also a nice chamfer around the edge wouldn't hurt.

Alternately if you go into a cabinet shop and tell them what you (both glass and base) want they can help you. So long as they're a bit slow. They'll tell you to go away or price you out if they're already busy.

Hello Kelsey,

You can also try a trophy shop, if you have one in the area.
They either make them or can order one for you.

Where are you located in the USA...I can ask my supplier if he
will ship to the USA.

Cheers,
Joe
