Hi All

I have nearly completed my Dragon Tiger I (Initial).

But i am having some problems with attaching the Tow cable to the top of the Hull.

1. The supplied, metal, cable is quite hard to get in the correct position.

2. I could not get the Metal Cable to glue to glue to the Hull. I am using a thin CA glue that just managed to melt and break smaller plastic parts, but would not glue the cable to the hull.

Any tips? Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

Mick

Hi Mick,

Your problem may be oil on the cable. Try cleaning it with detergent or perhaps the spray cleaner used to clean brakes. Carburetor cleaner or electronics parts cleaner should work as well. You want something which doesn't leave any residue. I have made several tow cables using picture wire, and successfully glued them with gap-filling CA glue. You need to do a lot of trial fitting and bending to get them to sit properly, but with patience, it should work.

Good luck,
Dick

Thanks Dick, that makes a lot of sense.... I will give it a go. I like the picture wire idea too

I have been using string soaked in Future and then painted. The future gives it some spring but makes it much easier to work with.

Replace with Karaya or XXL problem solved.Or heat under flame makes them bend a bit better.

As Karl says, replce them with those mentioned above (XXL Eureka being my favourites). Theres way too much spring in the Dragon supplied cables to be useful. Wouldn´t trust them to hold forever .... even if you suceed in glueing them now, I´d imagine the tension will eventually give way.
