I love my new(ish) Tamiya scriber tool. It's invaluable for separating resin parts from their sprues.

But it's time to get more blades... I can't seem to find them online anywhere. Anyone know of a source/site to get the replacement blades without having to purchase a whole new handle too?

Thanks!

It's the Tamiya Scriber II:

Looks like part number is 74091...?

I noticed that the blades are stamped with "OLFA Japan". I looked at both the Tamiya and Olfa Web sites, but no luck in either location. Surely they can't expect me to buy a second (and third and fourth and fifth, etc.) handle every time I need three new blades...???

Jake,

Could these Olfa blades possibly work?

Thanks for the find. I've emailed the Olfa and Tamiya people, and will wait their response. Those blades looks like they may fit, but wouldn't be able to be retracted into the Tamiya handle. If I have to buy a new handle every time, I'll likely just toss this handle, as much as I love it, and switch to a Olfa brand scriber...or another brand.

Anyone have any suggestions for great panel line type scribers? I also cut plexiglass from time to time. (The Tamiya worked great for both)

This is the same scriber that I use, and I happen to be currently stationed in Japan (Okinawa). I'll check my LHS here in a day or so and let you know what they have, unless you have already gotten the parts you need.

Didn't realize that the blades were such a pain to get stateside.

That would be WONDERFUL! (Man, I love this community) I haven't found replacements yet, no.

Let me know if I can return the favor from Texas!

Thanks!

Just went to the LHS last night, and they literally have an ENTIRE SECTION for just Tamiya tools. Pin vises, drill bits, hobby knives, blades, scribers, etc. If I remember correctly, the a pack of the scriber blades runs about 235 Yen, which means with the current exchange rate, they run about $2.50 a pack. Just let me know how many you need, because I'll be coming down on orders soon; meaning I'll be leaving the wonderful land of Okinawa shortly.

(Also, I just returned FROM TX. I was in the Houston area, and Dallas/Allen area since March.)
