With Christmas coming up and the USA celebrating Thanksgiving I got to wander about other Armed Forces; In the SADF while on active duty you always got a ‘Christmas meal’. I mean Turkey, stuffing, Christmas pudding the lot even party hats sometimes. :-) This happened even if you were on patrol and only got back to base on for example the 30th of December. Both the SADF and other organizations ensured this.

Is this so for all Armed Forces out there?

A Happy and peaceful Thanksgiving to all celebrating it today!

In Canada there is usually a "Soldiers' Christmas Dinner" in which the Officers and Senior NCOs serve the troops. We borrowed this idea from the Brits. In addition, on most bases, the Base Commander and Base CWO bring a dinner or at least visit all the troops working Christmas day.
