I am almost done with a model that has been superdetailed... resin, photoetch, putty, plastic, plastic cement, and super glue.

But it just dawned on me that I completely forgot to wash the resin parts before building. Add to that the hours and hours of finger oils, dust, glues, and whatever else might have collected up.

I've heard that people dunk their completed models in soap or degreaser as a last step before painting, but I worry! It's been hours and hours of work and I'd hate to screw it up!

Any recommendations?

I've heard some people give their model a good coat of Windex, and then a light rinse in the sink. Everything should go fine. The only issue would be if you used any water-soluble adhesives for parts, but even in those cases a light rinse usually won't cause anything to loosen.

I clean my resin parts by sitting them in Blech Wite tire cleaner for 15-30 minutes and then rinsing with water. Should be able to do that to anything assembled as long as its not painted.
