Bothered by the cost of kit supplies? Weve found some alternatives that will definitely slash the budget. We can make this a forum for exchanging ideas on cheap alternatives. Here are some:

1. Seatbelts, rifle straps and web gear.

You know that foil sheet found on top of Nissin's instant noodles? Great stuff for straps, seatbelts, and everything else in that category. There are two kinds: (a) yung maliit na cup, its a foil/paper mix with a removable plastic lining; (b) yung mas malaking cup, it has a pure aluminum foil lid (but thicker than Reynold's Wrap so better for modeling). The only let down on the second variety is that it has texture, but using a ruler, you can press down hard on it to more or less even it out.

You can cut them into strips of desired thickness, add some details here and there, twist into the appropriate shape, use superglue, and presto! goodbye expensive lead foil. Plus, ok na rin yung lasa ng noodle soup.

2. Putty applicators, tweezers, motor tool bits, probes.

Try buying these sa model supply mail order and youll feel like you just lost a good kit. Check out the local dental supply store. Everything's there. And at a fraction of the cost.

3. Drill bits.

Ever been to Aroma jewelry supply store in avenida (in front of Phil. Rabbit terminal)? They have little drill bits there that are very useful for hobby needs. A word of caution: if you want to stay healthy, dont go upstairs.

4. Clear acetate.

If you ever need to replace a windscreen, or need clear acetate for making cockpit instrument panels, save the blister on the Mighty Bond pack. If you need a clearer strip, then the next time you buy a shirt, look for the one with the clear acetate collar insert. You will not only look good in that new shirt, your models will too!

Rubble

Get an aluminum foil, get a mold, place foil on mold, pour plaster..When plaster is semi-dry, make details using a pointed thing (toothpick...). Wait until dry. Remove plater from mold and foil...Get a hammer, and smash it to bits....Place on diorama...

*I learned making a wall from an article here..I just thought of making rubble out of the wall..^_^

What happens upstairs?

When you buy powdered milk or oatmeal in cans, save the thick foil they use as a seal right under the cover. It's stiff but workable and works great as a replacement for molded on tool straps or seatbelts. Oatmeal also flushes out cholesterol
