Hi all,

New to the forum but not to military modelling....

Picking up from my last serious bout of military modelling which is over 25 years ago!

Anyway - why the involvement now?

I've been asked to produce a diorama in 1:48th scale using some of the new Airfix 'Operation Herrick' models.

Eventually this should be auctioned off in support of a charity.

Will have to wait for confirmation from that charity before the selling/promotion happens.

Anyway - someone has already donated the kits - so I thought I'd better get modelling.

More as things develop.

Thanks

Welcome to the site and network Phil. I think your reason for returning to the fold is one of the best I've heard in a while, and I assume that the charity is "Help for Heroes" as you are a brit?

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the interest.

From the guys who have started this idea - you would be correct.

But that's not up to me - I've just to make the models!

Apparently they have to wait for confirmation that the idea is acceptable as a fund raiser.

Like I said - more info as available.

I've just checked the box of stuff that landed on my doorstep...

Helicopter Support Set
Twin Land Rover Set
Patrol Figure Set x 2
Coyote
Jackal

So - that give something to work on.

I'll be doing the Lynx first as I'll get the etched detail sets for the others as and when they are available.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome.

I've sorted out where I'm going to start - but it's not what or how I expected!

Visit to local shop for fresh paint etc and came away with an extra purchase:-

Tamiya 1:48th Hummer Cargo.

This one is to get me going and freshen up my skills!

Anyway - Starting point established, it's time to get on with it.

I'll start a new topic for each of the build.

Next on the production line will be some airpower...

Westland Lynx AH-7.....

No idea where to put the topic though!

Thanks

Hi Phil, I'll be following along.
As for where to put the Lynx, if you look in the top left corner there is a button 'browse sites!' click this and a drop down menu appears in that you'll see Aeroscale the winged part of this network, within Aeroscale is a rotary wing section.

Hope that makes sense.
