Hi guys. You may remember I started a thread a few weeks back on my wife entering my hobby roomand letting out a big "Oh my gawd!"when she saw my stack of 30 or so kits unbuilt on my kit shelf. Then saying "NO MORE KITS!"

Well today I come to "praise her,not to bury her!"

My Bday is in 13 days and I got a pretty cool present from her...

My buddy bailed on me for the TorCan show in Toronto last weekend and my wife said she 'd go along to keep me company (which I thought was a ploy to keep me from buying anything

Low and behold we wander by a retail store booth that had a "no tax" sale. I started to price some kits when I noticed the new full option RC 1/16 M4 Sherman with 105 Howitzer sitting on the floor.

My wife looked at me and looked at the kit and looked at me again. No tax in my Province is a savings of 15% and knowing this store had discounted the kit already I was debating whether to even attempt to pick the box up when the magic words came out of her mouth
'your birthday is in two weeks, how much?"

I started to shake only a fellow modeller can in anticipation of a chance at building a long wanted kit...and boom I was knoecked for a loop when I saw the new low price of 400.00 US dollars!!! "WOW" ,she said "I thought that kit was more," and I knew right then that it was going to be mine!!!

Well not to bore you any more but the Sherman it is sitting on my "to do" shelf as I have a couple more works in progress.

When this baby is done I'll need a Tiger to run against but that isn't as far away as I once thought!

Woohoo!

Point me in the direction of the "decent" Hobby shops in Toronto Please.
I live an hour south of Buffalo Ny. Occasionally make a trip up north (across the border)

Thanks,
Matt

Well, congratulations on both the great kit and great wife.... :-) :-) :-)

I have been hinting my girl friend to get the full option 1/16 tiger for me for 2 months already. And my way of hinting is while I take her to the hobby shop and point to the tiger and said to her "This is what I want for my birthday, don't get it wrong, please remember this." :-) . I think I am going to get it in 4 months...and just as a back up plan I am also saving money for it too, just in case, we broke up before hand, so I can still get it. God, please let us not breaking up until I got the tiger.... :-) :-)

Great Billy,

Does your wife have two sisters, i'd like to do the Sherman and the Tiger.

Jack the Greedy!

Seriously I have a great spouse and pertner. She works elbow to elbow with me in the business, or is that cheek to cheek?

Wacko Jacko!

The state of New Hampshire has never had a sales tax. They didn't when I was a kid in Vermont and still don't now that I'm 20 miles south in Massachusetts. There may be others too.

Great woman you got there Billy.... I have one who is of the same caliber. I have enough models to fill umpteen display cases, so I have branched out into other hobbies.....To make a long story short, Momma gave me the green light to order my very first Harley Davidson. I was floored...but rushed right out and dropped my paperwork for a 2003, 100 year anniversary model Dyna Wide Glide.....God I love that woman... :-) "Q"

Well I believe the store just takes an additional 15 percent loss on the item.

And thanks to all you who responded about her being cool. My wife is the best!

"Henry V" is a great movie, and among all the Shakespear I like Henry V and King Lear the most.

And you will really love the kit ,too.I guess you will have to buy radio gear to go with it.I have a 4 channel in mine. Take your time assembling it,just to enjoy the experiance.Of course, let the wife help, and take it for the test drive.
Don't omit primering the metal hull,it really helps. On the up side,it is a very fast build, since the tracks are all together.
