All the rave reviews from every modeling blog I've
read, seem too good to be true from a "floor wax".
Is it a really an excellent clear glossy finish? Do a few drops in the paint smooth out airbrush and hand brushing operation? Dipping a clear canopy in it comes highly recommended. Are there problems not written about?
Can it be misused? Should I have Pledge in my Future?

As long as you get the liquid acrylic floor finish all the above are true. There has been some confusion of late as they changed the name and packaging: http://www.pledge.com/en-US/Products/Pages/tile-and-vinyl-floor-finish-with-future-shine.aspx

i like Liquitex Gloss varnish as it's archival...no yellowing...and meant to go over acrylic paints...YMMV...

Vallejo Satin Varnish also works quite well. I use 'Future' too, or 'Pledge' as its called where I am. The only thing you need to watch out for is over-saturation on the surface you are applying it to- it will run and if the runs are not dealt with they will dry as runs and be quite visible. Also be careful to properly drain the excess off canopies and glazed parts (like a windscreen for example) otherwise you'll get visible runs.
