Does anybody know anything about Sparmax? They have a gravity fed ab with a .5mm tip. I am concerned about the price being only $50. I guess, I can buy one and find out without crippling my tool fund.

I have the Sparmax HB-40 and it's partially the reason I upgraded to the Iwata HP-C Plus. I'm no expert on ABs, but it's marginally better than my really cheap airbrushes. Spare parts are rare on eBay too.

If all you will do with it is apply primer, base coats and filters...and want to use multiple brushes (Sotar for fine work) then consider something like a Badger Patriot. Inexpensive brush and easy/lowcost parts.

My 2 favorites are the H&S Evolution and Badger Krome...either one makes an excellent all around airbrush.

My first brand name brush was a Badger 150. Now, the Sotar hasn't really given any problems. But, the 150 needed to be disassembled and cleaned at least once a day. I've found the Iwata has better paint control and I only take it apart once a week. I only take it apart, because it has been a week; not because it needs it.

What happened to the one you bought in may 2011?

""Hey guys. I have decided to go with the Badger Renegade Velocity gravity-fed. Only costs around $120 and is precise enough for the price. Thanks Delbert

No. I have three abs all given to me as gifts. I've refurbished my Iwata. It is working fairly well. The plunger is a little sticky. Yes, I cleaned it with acetone and oiled the snot out of it. I'll be replacing the o-ring, just in case.
