I am trying to build Airfix 1/1200 HMS Hood from their "Sink the Bismarck" multi-kit. The hull is very warped - bow and stern touch - center is at least 1/4 inch high. How do I correct this without ruining the piece (as I have in the past via microwave, boiling water, and heat gun)?

What about soaking it in almost-boiling water, then placing it on a hard cold surface and gently pressing the centre of the hull down? Boil the water and pour it into a shallow baking dish then allow it to cool for a minute or so. Immerse the hull and leave it for another minute or so before fishing it out. Clamp it to a board and then put it in the freezer for a few minutes to set the new shape.

Thanks, Jess. That doesn't sound too dangerous. I will give it a go.

Hi There,If that does`nt work there was a forum post that advocated gluing small sections at a time (it was for aircraft but i`ve used it on armour)see if that helps by pulling small sectoins in at a time.

Thanks, Danny. I will try that method with one of my Prinz Eugens, which are also warped. For the Hood I clamped the warped hull to a piece of bent metal (a letter opener), cooked it in not quite boiling water, let it set to cool, and it worked out ok.
