I am on the market for P.E. part cutter. Been using xacto knife with new blade but does not always have a clean cut. Is this cutter from Xuron any better ? Thanks.

Before you purchase a pe cutter(I've been considering one as well), you may want to look into getting a small piece of glass. I remove the pe from the fret with a no.11 blade on a cutting mat. Then, I put the piece I cut on glass. Line up a no.11 blade, so that it butts up against the pe. Push the blade down on the etch to remove any burs.

The xuron tool cuts PE like scissors through paper! Had it for ages and it's still brilliant, but I ONLY use it for PE...

I agree the Xuron cutters are good but I've found they are also decent at cutting small gauge wire.

Does it leave a nub that needs to be filed?

Rarely and usually it's due to my own caution...the nature of the tool allows for precise cutting and I've found it also helps negate "jumping" parts because the pressure applied is less aggressive compared to a #11 blade, for example.

FYI: I use the 440 scissor and not the one you have linked, which looks to be even more suited to PE cutting. I'm not sure the 9180ET was available then, and the 440 has worked great without exception!

Like Matt, I use glass to cut out my PE parts, as my Tamiya Matt has too much give to it. I make my 1st cut on the glass surface. I don't use a #11 blade, but rather a #10 curved blade, which I find much more user friendly and comfortable.
