Looking up tourist site links, I read that portions of Vietnam are always warm, but mountainous and other regions can get cold in winter. So how is Vietnam, similar to Hawaii in climate?

when i went, it was around this time of year and the nights were coldish but the days were quite hot once the sun was up. as the year goes on it will be hot and clammy all the time. i was in the north, hanoi upto the chinese boarder.
