During construction of my Opel Blitz truck, I accidentally broke and then lost one of the side indicators (that part shown in the photo below). Any ideas on how to scratchbuild replacements for both the broken one and the opposite side brother.

They are simply round stalks with flat circles on top.

Thanks!

Metal wire from LHS... dip in into some Testors glue. Let it dry, and ta da! All I can think off. Hope it helps,

Cheers,

Brass rod of the right diameter & then add a small disc on top. The disc can be superglued on or, if the disc is made from brass, you could solder it on place. Soldering is definitely more durable.

Paul, thanks for the insight.

Just yesterday morning, I finally found a way to make small, small discs out of discarded PE material and soldered them to some piano wire. They look great, but my paint job left something to be desired (next time I'll work on these BEFORE airbrushing!) and the solder was a bit thick.... man oh man were those damn things tough to solder. So tiny!

Evergreen plastic rod of the proper diameter. Dip the end in white paint to form the ball on the end, repeat if necessary. The Evergreen is much less brittle than the model plastic so will take more abuse. Also unlike the the model plastic the Evergreen is a true round rod and looks better.

Finally the actual name for these items is "width indicators".

Good idea! The Opel width indicators have flat tops rather than round ones. I'm going to try this technique for the next truck I do with round ones!
