Hi all,
I'm looking for advice and makers of upgrades to make my Sherman models better. I'm going into hospital & plan on upgrading my Sherman collection. Going to be laid up for about 3 months. My main questions are:-[ ]
1. size of bolts to go on the bottom of the bogies?
2. lenses for Sherman lights?
3. Gun barrels?
4. Weld lines? Milliput/putty or decals?
5. Punch & die kit, what do you recommend?
6. metal etch folding, roller what can you recommend?
7. Skids & bolts?
8. Metal tracks &/or workable plastic?
9. looking for interiors & engine bays too.
Any other advice for upgrading Shermans would be greatly appreciated, for all models as I plan to buy aa few new ones before I go to hospital.
Once again thanks in advance for any help.
Kenny
P.S. I plan to take photo's & do a build log of all my builds.

1. size of bolts to go on the bottom of the bogies?
Buy a selection of hexagonal plastic rod and cut as required.

2. Gun barrels?
Give RB Model a look as they carry several barrels for the Sherman I believe.

3. Weld lines? Milliput/putty or decals?
The perfect plastic putty can be used for this purpose as well as the methods you have suggested.

6. Metal etch folding, roller what can you recommend?
I do not have a roller set at this time but when it comes to PE benders it depends on how complex the items are that you are bending and how much use you will get out of it. If it is minimal I would get some smooth pliers or use a couple of Stanley blades. For more complex bends I would look at the review James and I both did on the benders from RP Toolz. If you are going to be using it a lot and want to bend the most complex of PE look at the small shop range.

8. Metal tracks &/or workable plastic?
As the Sherman had a live track I would look at plastic or resin replacements as there is no benefit from the weight of metal track links.

I agree, I'm a fan of AFV Club and Panda semi=workable track. You want Sherman track to be snug.
