Hey y'all, hopefully this is posted in the right forum but I'm sure the moderators will let me know if not.

We are in the process of setting up an online directory of model shops, and are at the stage of collecting data ready to go live early in the new year.

One of the main driving forces behind this is the worry that small local model shops are losing out to the big national chains and evilBay, so passing on their details would be a great way to support your local shops.

You can find a form to submit a shop you own or are aware of at:

www.modelmoose.com

There are already a few sites on the web offering listings of hobby shops, however the main things we are doing differently with Model Moose are:

Focus on shops stocking plastic kits and accessories, rather than RC or model railways;
Advanced search options, like the ability to search within 'X' miles of a postcode.
Some points to bear in mind when considering submitting a shop to the site are:

We don't mind getting multiple sunmissions of the same shop, in fact it is often useful, so if in doubt subit the information anyway.
Anywhere in the world is fine, we considered making it UK only to start with but decided that was silly in the days of the interweb.
Online shops are as welcome as real world ones.
As we are still in the process of developing the site, search functionality and even to an extent the database structure, any feedback on what features you would consider important would be most gratefully received, either on this thread or by email to [email protected].

Finally, if you're wonding what mooses have to do with model shops, the answer is nothing, we just think they are beautiful and majestic creatures.
