I'm looking to build one of the following
Either the
Academy 1/48th TBM-3 USS Bunker Hill
or
Italei 1/48th Douglas SBD Dauntless

Which ever will be finished in RNZAF Colours...

Hi Chris the Italeri boxing is still Accurate miniatures plastic and from what I've heard the colour of the roundels is a little to light. having said that I love both kits and they build well as long as you follow the instructions completely. The A.M. instructions are infinitely better as they provide written information and this includes their tips for the build. Both kits are very well detailed and build well. I've got a couple of each in my stash and more on the way. I've also got some of Ventura's decals for both kits. I look forward to seeing which you'll choose to build. I think either will look stunning, good luck and I hope to see build logs for both.

Hi Chris

I'm going with the Dauntless so far I've painted up the engine and the cockpit floor.
However the instruction sheet is not the best it looks like a photocopy of a photocopy ie : not particularly clear.

However the Avenger will be next.

This will be later in the year,as my father in law knows Brendan Deere,I'm hoping to get to see his Avenger up close and personal and take the odd photo for reference.

Will keep you updated.
