While looking at Cybermodeler.com, today's "What's New" section has updates from DML. Of course I'm excited about news from DML so I click the link

and find four new kits in 1/100th scale. Is this just random or does there seem to be a trend in manufactures producing 1/100th kits?
Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this from other companies as well. Happy modeling.

For armor it might be a new thing.
Tamiya released about a dozen aircraft in the 1970s (I think) that were 1/100 scale. SAAB Viggen, F-14, F-4 and a few others I think. BAe Lightning, as well. I always wanted to build that one.

Zvezda is just trying to cash in on the popularity of the game Flames of War, which is a WWII turn based game, sort of like Warhammer, just with WWII units instead of fantasy units.
The scale of Flames of War is 15mm, which, you guess it, works out to 1/100.
I order in for customers quite a few of these and ones from Plastic Soldier, whom also make different tanks in that scale as well as field guns w/crew, and infantry units.

Ah, thank you Scott. I always thought war-gamers used 72nd.
