Jim any posts created before and during the first few weeks of change will not notify you of a reply unless you created the thread and selected that option before posting.

Sorry, but I don't really understand what you said, Darren.
Do you mean that it's impossible to subscribe to a thread unless you open it ?

Prior to the site upgrade you could subscribe, when the site was updated you could not subscribe to a thread unless you elected to do so at the time of starting the thread. When Jim started working on this issue I believe that you can for the most part now subscribe to threads but I have not tried again yet.

Actually the problem was that emails for new posts were not being sent out. I didn't have trouble subscribing to a topic the other day, but no emails were sent once a new post was made.

That said I am going to be changing this entire system anyways to use the 'follow' system. Which will mean better notifications on site via an alert, etc. Then if we continue to do email alerts you will have the option whether to get immediate alerts or a daily email with new post info.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks a lot for your reply, Jim.
Armorama being an "alive and kicking" forum, it's quite hard to follow a thread without being warned of new replies.

I have another (minor) issue with the subscription emails: a few weeks ago I started to get emails for my own postings in threads I have elected to subscribe to. Not a big problem but if I could choose I would prefer not being emailed about my own updates!
