Just moved to the Kansas City area from new york. I am looking for a shop that carries the tools of our trade. Specifically tamiya supplies and paint. Online stores need not apply. I need locations that carry these things. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

HI Liam,

Welcome to KC.

I got here 2 years ago from Connecticut.

There are only a couple of hobby stores here in the area.

Here is a great Train store, they have some scratch building supplies, but alas no Tamiya paints.

There is a HobbyTown USA in northern Kansas City.

http://www.hobbytown.com

There is also a Hobby Haven in Overland Park on Metcalf.

The HobbyTown USA and the Hobby Haven both carry Tamiya paints...

Hope That helps.

Kev:
Hey great suggestions. I found hobbytown on metcalf a while ago. It was prett good, and across the street is a wargaming store called "tabletop game and hobby". They carry the full range of vallejo and games workshop paints as well as a bit of basing scenery. Both good stores in a pinch.

Brent:
Liberty is a bit of a drive for me but i plan on visiting soon to check out sprue bro's. What exactly do they have in stock?

Yes TableTop... is a great place, and the owner is top notch.

I used to use Tamiya Paints, and still do occasionally, but I have moved on to Vallejo...

There are also 2 art supply stores in the area... a Utrecth, and Creative Cold Snow.

Enjoy!

I have to say the HobbyTown in North KC is great if you are looking for scratch building supplies they probably have it. Tons of Brass, Wood, and Evergreen stock.

Enjoy! What do you model if I might ask?

Hey,

Sorry it has taken me a while to respond. Life has a way of throwing you a curveball once in a while.

I havent been to those art supply stores yet. Sounds like a good place to overhaul my brushes that are getting a little tired.

As for my modelling, I tend to lean towards 1/35 armour and a few oddball planes thrown in as well. I have recently bought a few SS soldier figures and may set up a nice dio with my new dragon Pz Kpfw III Ausf "J".

But my original love is for tabletop wargaming figures aka (warhammer 40,000) Never really got into playing the actual game, but love the armour and figures. I used to have an ebay store a few years ago so I could justify buying and painting the expensive little buggers.

What are you into modelling?
