What do you do when you lose a piece of tank in the process of building it? I've looked all over and the carpet ate it. I'm sure I'll find it someday, probably when I've just finished building the tank.

I could try to scratch build it, but it's some raised circular part that goes near the exhausts, so....

What do you guys do when the carpet monster eats your pieces?

As you say, scratch build or tell us here what it is you lost and someone may have a spare they can send you.

Yes...please let us know what you need,and maybe a scan or something of the instruction sheet showing the part. Like several others here I have lots of spare part what-nots so who knows.

Brandi .. If you can tell us what kit it is and the part number then its more than possible one of us has already built it and we have the plans too ,,its more than likely one of us have spares ..then you can be sent one

Most maunfacturers are pretty good about replacing lost parts. Try contacting them and see what they say. They may ask for postage or a nominal replacement fee, but you'll have your part and finish your model.

I know on some kits a part replacement card, e-mail address, or phone number is included. I have had very good dealings with Tamiya and Academy. If it is an Italeri kit, I wish you the best of luck. I ordered replacement parts from them about two years ago and just received the package. You can contact Dragon at dragon care. Trumpeter parts can likely be found at www.stevenshobby.com. Other companies I have not dealt with.

You can use a vacumm with a nylon on the end, and the piece will be trapped in the nylon.

I am missing parts (yes, I lost more...I really suck at this! I need to work in the middle of my desk in a box!) B27 and A6.

I've been using the trick that Kevin suggests for decades. Put a nylon stocking over the end of the vacuum cleaner hose, secure it with a rubber band, and vacuum back and forth across the carpet until the parts come up stuck to the nylon. It works every time, even for individual rivets!

Fourth: I cry

Fifth: I scratchbuild the part

Joking aside, if the part is easy to make is less time consuming reproduce it than looking for it...otherwise I spend a lot of time kneeling down on the floor with a torch in my hand
